Ghana Premier League: “Medeama will treat matches as final” – Tanko

Medeama SC returned to the summit of the Ghana Premier League table follow their emphatic 4-0 win over Asante Kotoko on Sunday.

The Mauve and Yellow tore the Porcupine Warriors into shreds in week 29 of the Ghana Premier League at the Tarkwa TnA Park.

Having lost the top spot to defending champions GoldStars last weekend, the former champions made a majestic comeback at the top on Sunday.

Two goals from Salim Adams one by Kelvin Obeng and an own goal gave coach Ibrahim Tanko’s men the big win.

Medeama lead GoldStars with two points

Ibrahim Tanko said: “I think we were determined to keep the three points here and I think I said it before the game and I think looking at how we trained, the players did very well and I congratulate them and this is very fantastic performance especially in the first half,” Ibrahim Tanko said.

“I think in any game if you get the first game definitely you will come down, we were playing at home and by all means that why the players being jittery but I think after the first goal they showed their class.

Every Premier League game is final

Ibrahim Tanko said, Medeama will attach utmost seriousness to every match as the season winds down with five games to go.

“Very important like I said, the last six games, every game is like a final, you have to approach every game because if you drop the points [don’s forget your] competitors are following you.

“We win this one today and then we have our MTN FA Cup semifinalists and then we see the next game is against Berekum Chelsea and then we prepare for that.”

Medeama now have 53 points, two points better than GoldStars who lost 2-1 at Aduana last Friday.

Medeama will now turn their attention to the MTN FA Cup semifinals against Dreams fc in an all Premier League affair.
