Zamalek coach urges fans not to be sad despite reaching CAFCC final

Zamalek head coach Moatamed Gamal confirmed that his team’s match against CR Belouizdad was more difficult than the first leg, as expected, emphasizing that the main objective—qualification—was achieved.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, he said:
“We had many chances in the first half, and there was a disallowed goal, and the most important thing is achieving the objective and qualifying for the final match.”

He added:
“I ask Zamalek fans not to be sad because of not winning today’s match, and I wished the performance would be better and that we could win, but in the end we qualified for the final.”

The White Knights coach continued:
“Juan Bezerra is in good condition, and the opposing team imposed tight marking on him in today’s match, and the win we achieved in the first leg made our mission easier in qualifying for the final.”

Gamal explained:
“Semi-final and final matches do not witness many chances because of the caution of both teams, and Zamalek were better in the first half and there were no chances for the opponent, while the second half witnessed some chances for CR Belouizdad, but Zamalek defended well and achieved the objective and qualified for the final.”

He added:
“Zamalek fans attend matches to see their team perform at the best level and achieve the best result, and I ask them not to be sad after today’s match.”

Zamalek coach concluded:
“Our goal is to win the title, and we respect all opponents, whether USM Alger or Olympic Safi, and the players dropped back at some moments of the match to secure the result and achieve the required objective, and I am happy with qualifying for the final.”

Zamalek secured their place in the CAF Confederation Cup final after a goalless draw against CR Belouizdad at Cairo International Stadium in the second leg, benefiting from their 1-0 win in the first leg.

The Egyptian side will now await the winner of the clash between Olympic Safi and USM Alger to know their opponent in the final.
