Goalkeeper reveals why Zamalek avoided offensive risks against CR Belouizdad

Zamalek goalkeeper Mahdi Soliman spoke after his team secured qualification to the CAF Confederation Cup final against Algeria’s CR Belouizdad.

Zamalek booked their place in the final after overcoming the Algerian side in the semi-final second leg at Cairo International Stadium, benefiting from their 1-0 win in the first leg at Nelson Mandela Stadium.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Soliman said, according to Yallakora:
“Praise be to God for the win over CR Belouizdad, we faced a strong opponent, and we dedicate the qualification to Zamalek fans who supported us strongly.”

He added:
“We reached the CAF Confederation Cup final after great effort, and we benefited from the away win in the first leg by a single goal.”

The Egyptian goalkeeper continued:
“We avoided taking offensive risks in the second leg against CR Belouizdad to prevent conceding a goal that could complicate our chances of qualifying for the final.”

Mahdi Soliman concluded:
“We kept a clean sheet throughout the match against an opponent that threatened our goal with many dangerous chances, and our focus will now be on winning the title.”

Zamalek will now await the winner of the other semi-final between Olympic Safi and USM Alger to determine their opponent in the 2026 CAF Confederation Cup final.
