Buruk addresses Osimhen’s absence in win over Gençlerbirliği

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has provided clarity regarding his decision to exclude striker Victor Osimhen from the matchday squad during Saturday’s Süper Lig triumph at Gençlerbirliği.

Although the Nigerian international travelled with the team, he ultimately played no part in the encounter. This follows a week where the highly-rated attacker had successfully integrated back into training sessions after being sidelined for Galatasaray’s previous three league outings due to an arm injury.

Buruk Clarifies Osimhen’s Physical Status

As reported by Sporx, Buruk explained that the 27-year-old was still navigating the residual effects of recent physical exertion and required a cautious management approach. Nevertheless, the manager voiced his optimism that the forward would be fully fit for Galatasaray’s pivotal, high-stakes showdown against title rivals Fenerbahçe.

“The striker participated in specific segments of our training program. However, following those sessions, he experienced a degree of fatigue.

Coach Yener, Osimhen, and I discussed the situation at length. We collectively decided it was not appropriate for him to be included in the squad this weekend. We are now looking ahead to the upcoming cup fixture to determine his potential minutes. Ultimately, he will certainly be available for the match against Fenerbahçe.”
