Ghana: Ibrahim Tanko targets league title after FA Cup fiasco

Head coach of Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko has shifted attention to the premier league title after failing to qualify for the MTN FA Cup finals.

The league leaders lost 3-2 against Dreams fc at the Swedru Stadium in the semifinals of the FA Cup on Saturday, missing out of the final spot.

With five matches to draw the curtains on the current Ghana Premier League season, Medeama lead the log with 53 points, two better than defending champions GoldStars.

Ibrahim Tanko spoke to a group of reporters after the game.

“I think we did very well in terms of the possession but the urgency to win the game is a bit questionable so definitely we are going to watch the match and prepare for our league matches,” Ibrahim Tanko said at the mixed zone.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t qualify for the finals and I think we have to concentrate on the league.

“Definitely the pressure will come because we are out of the FA Cup and we have to concentrate on the leave and I think we are ready for that.”

Medeama have recorded the least number of defeats of four with 14 wins and 11 draws.

The two-time FA Cup winners will now shift focus against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park on Friday, April 24.

Nations FC defeated two-time Ghana Premier League champions Aduana FC 1-0 in Swedru to set up a final clash against Dreams FC.
