NPFL: Mbwas Mangut relieved after Nasarawa United halt winless streak

Nasarawa United technical adviser Mbwas Mangut expressed relief as his side returned to winning ways in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday.

The “Solid Miners” ended their three-game winless streak with a commanding 3-0 victory over Warri Wolves at the Lafia City Stadium. Chimezie Victor gave the hosts the lead from the penalty spot just three minutes before the break, while second-half goals from substitutes Ngei Oluka-Efor and Habibu Alakija sealed the win.

Mangut on teams victory

Mangut, while speaking with the club’s media, congratulated the team and noted that they are now focused on their final three games of the season.

“Congratulations to all of us in the team. It’s somewhat a relief for us because we brought ourselves to this situation, even though this is not where we wanted to be.

We are worried that our title contenders are also winning their games away. We still have a lot of work to do with the remaining three matches left to end the current campaign to enable us achieve our goals.”

He further stated that the club is dissatisfied with its current standing.

“Obviously, nobody is happy with our current position, but we have further self-motivated ourselves, doing everything humanly possible to end in a decent position on the league table.

Playing without the supporters and fans is difficult because they are the 12th player, and their motivation is very vital, but I am glad that my wards were able to weather the storm.”

Despite the victory, Nasarawa United remain in sixth position. The Lafia-based club will travel to face Shooting Stars at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan this weekend.
