The African duo, Terem Moffi of Nigeria and Ivory Coast’s Jérémie Boga, have had their futures decided by French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.
Both players were reported to have departed the Eagles under hostile circumstances during the January transfer window. The pair reportedly requested the mutual termination of their contracts following the violent scenes that occurred outside the club’s training ground back in November.
They are both currently away from the club on loan deals, with Boga enjoying regular minutes at Serie A giants Juventus and Moffi playing for FC Porto. OGC Nice’s co-president, Maurice Cohen, has told Ici Azur that the pair do not have a future at the Allianz Riviera, even if their loan deals are not eventually regularised by their temporary clubs.
“They won’t return to Nice, whether their buy options are triggered or not,” said Cohen, who officially joined the club back in December.
International transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, however, posits that Juventus are expected to trigger the €5m buy clause included in Boga’s loan agreement. The Ivorian winger will certainly relish the chance to stay with the “Old Lady” of Italian soccer, while FC Porto also possesses a buy option for Moffi.
Boga has posted a respectable performance in the current Italian Serie A campaign, notching 10 appearances with four goals and one assist. The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations winner, who once represented France at the U-19 level, currently has 21 caps and two goals for the Elephants.
Moffi, on the other hand, has earned 26 caps for the Super Eagles, scoring four goals in the process. In the Portuguese league this campaign, the 26-year-old has made eight appearances, contributing one goal and one assist.
