The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has revealed that the 2025-26 season is proceeding as planned and will conclude on its scheduled date of May 24.

This was confirmed by Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, who stated that the windows created at the start of the season were designed to ensure a seamless operation, avoiding the disruptions experienced in past years.

Owumi on NPFL fixture consistency

Speaking with NPFL Media, Owumi explained that a significant amount of planning and synergy was put into ensuring a hitch-free season.

“We synergised with the NFF Competitions Department at the start of the season to create windows for the Federation Cup. It has been in effect since January, and we are running our calendar as designed.

“We have been intentional about maintaining fixture fidelity, and it took a lot of planning and cooperation from the clubs to achieve this.”

Nigeria Premier Football League clubs are currently observing a break from league action this weekend for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President’s Cup window.

Matchdays 36 and 37 of the Nigeria Premier Football League are now scheduled to be played on May 3 and May 10, respectively, followed by another President’s Federation Cup window on May 16–17.
