Ibrahim Osman: Davies hopes for winger’s quick return from injury

Birmingham City were dealt a sucker punch on Wednesday following the injury to Ghana international Ibrahim Osman.

The winger scored his second goal of the season and provided an assist as Birmingham City clocked a 2-1 win over Preston North End in the English Championship.

Osman, who is on loan from Brighton, later picked up an injury in the 37th minute, forcing a substitution in the process.

Club manager, Chris Davies is hopeful that the 21-year-old will soon return to action.

Speaking after the 2-1 win over Preston, Davies explained the nature of the injury and praised the winger’s bravery.

Ibrahim Osman has scored twice in 16-games

“I think he went up for a header, and he got knocked, and if anything, that’s credit to him.

“Most wingers will duck out of it,” the Blues boss said.

“He’s gone up to try and win a header, and he’s taken a knock and unfortunately could not carry on.

“I don’t know exactly what that means, but we took him off, and hopefully, he is back soon.”

The former Nordsjaelland winger has grown in confidence since joining Birmingham on loan in January.

He has scored two goals and two assists in 16 Championship appearances this campaign.

He is expected to return to parent club Brighton at the end of the season when his loan spell runs out.

Osman has yet to settle in his young career, having had loan spells at Dutch Eredivisie club, Feyenoord and French Ligue 1 side Auxerre in the past.

It remains to be seen if new Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz will add him to his final World Cup squad having only played three times for the Black Stars.
