Zimbabwean international Marshall Munetsi has made a shocking prediction on the outcome of Sunday’s Soweto Derby in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Zimbabwean star Marshall Munetsi has tipped the scales in favour of Orlando Pirates going into Sunday’s meeting with Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
Speaking to SuperSport Television on Friday, 24th April 2026, the Wolverhampton Wanderers FC man clearly showed his allegiance to the Buccaneers.
Asked about who he thinks will carry the day during the Betway Premiership clash, the on-loan Paris FC player said: “There is only one team that is playing in the Soweto Derby as far I am concerned.”
On another note, the Premier League star also commented on the potential of Pirates rising attacker Relebohile Mofokeng.
The discarded Warrior player said Mofokeng stands a chance to gain exposure by playing in high profile games for club and country.
“For me a person like Rele, he is definitely in a position to be making a statement for himself to be able to be playing in the higher leagues,” he said.
“I definitely think he can do it. He is also getting a bit of experience playing in the CAF Champions League and World Cup qualifiers, it is already preparing him.”
“With South Africa going to the World Cup, it will also give Southern Africa a big chance to make a statement when it comes to our football and our development,” Munetsi added.
South Africa football will always be close to the heart of the Zimbabwean.
The midfielder made a name in the PSL while on the books of the Soweto giants between 2016 and 2018. He left Pirates to sign for French Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims FC in 2019.
The 29-year-old is on loan at Paris FC for the rest of the season after leaving Wolves due to limited game time. The Warriors player featured 15 times for Wolves this Premier League season before he left for France.
The fortunes for the former Zimbabwe captain changed late last year when he suffered a calf injury which left him on the sidelines for six weeks. The injury led to his exclusion from the Zimbabwe squad that competed at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco.
The midfielder initially joined Wolves 12 months ago from Ligue 1 side Reims last season, having stepped out almost 150 times and scored 21 goals in the French top- flight.
In his first season in the Premier League, Munetsi scored twice in 16 outings and provided a spark to help Wolves remain in the Premier League for an eighth successive year.
