Zamalek were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against ENPPI SC in Round 4 of the Nile Egyptian League title phase, missing a key chance to strengthen their grip at the top.
The match saw several opportunities from both sides but lacked the finishing touch. ENPPI came close early on through Aqtay Abdullah, whose powerful strike was blocked by Omar Gaber. The visitors also had a goal disallowed in the 17th minute for offside after Ahmed Sabeeha followed up a rebound from a free-kick initially saved by Mahdi Soliman.
Zamalek responded with a powerful free-kick from Abdallah El Said, which was denied by goalkeeper Abdelrahman Samir. Another effort from Bentayg was also kept out, as ENPPI’s defense held firm.
In the second half, chances continued to flow. Zamalek nearly found the breakthrough when Juan Bezerra came closest in the 55th minute, but his effort narrowly missed the target. Another chance came when Ahmed Fatouh delivered a precise cross to Nasser Mansi, whose shot sailed out of the goal.
Late in the game, Mahdi Soliman produced another crucial save to deny ENPPI, ensuring the match ended goalless.
The result presents a golden opportunity for Al Ahly SC, who face Pyramids FC later today. A win would see Al Ahly close the gap at the top ahead of the highly anticipated Cairo Derby next Friday.
Despite the draw, Zamalek remain top of the Egyptian League standings with 50 points, while both Al Ahly and Pyramids sit second and third respectively on 44 points before their crucial clash tonight.
