Al Wakrah SC booked their place in the semi-finals of the Qatar Amir Cup after a dominant 3-0 victory over Al Rayyan on Friday, with African stars playing decisive roles in a memorable performance.
The standout trio of Gelson Dala, Amine Zouhzouh, and Aïssa Laïdouni were instrumental in leading Al Wakrah to the final four.
Al Wakrah opened the scoring in the 19th minute through Lucas Mendes, who struck directly from a superb free-kick to give his side early control.

The Moroccan playmaker Amine Zouhzouh then doubled the advantage in the 76th minute with a composed finish from inside the penalty area, further confirming Al Wakrah’s superiority.

The result sends Al Wakrah into a high-profile semi-final showdown against Al Gharafa SC, who also advanced after defeating Umm Salal SC 2-1 in another quarter-final encounter.
Umm Salal initially stunned Al Gharafa by taking the lead in the 8th minute through Michael Baidoo, who converted from the penalty spot. However, Al Gharafa responded quickly, leveling the score in the 17th minute when Algerian midfielder Yacine Brahimi made an assist to Ahmed Al-Ganehi who scored the equalizer.
