Five days after helping Spartak Moscow reach the Russian Cup final, Christopher Wooh made an early goal contribution in the club’s 2-1 Russian Premier League victory over Rubin Kazan on Monday.

The member of Cameroon’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations squad showed off his finishing instincts with a shot into the roof of the net after the visitors failed to clear a free kick at the Lukoil Arena in the Russian capital.

Pablo Solari doubled the lead shortly after the hour mark for the Gladiators, who returned to winning ways in league action and remain within reach of a top-3 finish. Rubin Kazan found a late consolation in second half stoppage time. Wooh was named Man of the Match after the full time whistle.

The following Sunday, on May 24, the Russian Cup final will take all the attention with fellow Premier League club FC Krasnodar awaiting. Spartak are the record cup winners in Russian football between the cup’s history under its current name as well as it’s previous name, the Soviet Cup.

Wooh made two appearances during Cameroon’s run to the quarterfinals of the 2025 AFCON, but was left out of the reckoning by coach David Pagou for the Indomitable Lions’ FIFA Series matches against Australia and China in late March.

The 24-year-old appears likely to make a return to the Lions when 2027 AFCON qualifying commences later this year after coach Pagou experimented with younger players and fringe options for the March friendlies.
