Yanga face Dodoma Jiji in Wednesday’s headline NBC Premier League clash

The NBC Premier League continues today with three crucial fixtures across different venues, headlined by an exciting encounter between Young Africans SC (Yanga) and Dodoma Jiji FC at Airtel Stadium in Singida.

The highly anticipated match will kick off at 16:00 EAT, with league leaders Yanga aiming to continue their unbeaten run and strengthen their grip at the top of the standings.

The defending champions head into the fixture in impressive form after 22 league matches, having recorded 16 wins and 6 draws without tasting defeat this season. Yanga have once again shown why they remain favourites for the title, scoring 50 goals while conceding only 5 to give them the best defensive and attacking record in the league so far.

Despite their strong position, Yanga know they cannot afford any slip ups as rivals Simba SC remain firmly in the title race, sitting just five points behind. That pressure has made every remaining fixture increasingly important for the Jangwani giants as the season approaches its decisive stage.

History also favors Yanga ahead of today’s clash. The defending champions have won their last five meetings against Dodoma Jiji, including a convincing 3-1 victory in the first round encounter earlier this season.

However, Dodoma Jiji are expected to provide a tough challenge in front of their supporters. The club currently sits eighth in the table with 29 points from 22 matches, but they are still only seven points above the relegation zone, meaning every point remains vital in their fight to secure safety.

Earlier in the day, Mbeya City FC will host Coastal Union FC at 14:00 EAT in another important relegation battle.

Coastal Union occupy 13th place with 22 points from 22 matches, while Mbeya City are just below them in 14th place with 21 points. Victory for either side could provide a major boost in the battle to avoid the relegation playoff positions.

Later this evening, Tanzania Prisons FC will face Fountain Gate FC at Sokoine Stadium from 16:00 EAT.

Tanzania Prisons, currently 15th with only 14 points after 22 matches, desperately need a win to revive their survival hopes. Fountain Gate sit 10th with 25 points and are also seeking points to distance themselves further from the relegation danger zone.
