Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has reacted to the Glody Lilepo’s red card in the Betway Premiership match against AmaZulu FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday afternoon.
Lilepo scored the only goal of the match for Amakhosi in the second-half as they collected yet another three points. Amakhosi have already sealed their place in the top three on the league table and qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
The Glamour Boys qualified for the continental football last weekend after beating Sekhukhune United 2-0 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
As it stands, Chiefs are on 54 points in 29 matches, and the teams behind them are mathematically out of contention to catch them.
In the penultimate round of the Premiership, Lilepo scored the goal for Chiefs against the Durban outfit, but his celebrations were short-lived after receiving his second yellow card for taking off his shirt during the celebration.
The red card will see Lilepo miss the final match of the season against Chippa United as he’ll serve a two-match suspension that will overlap to the 2026/27 campaign.
“Yeah, we need to be careful because he was already booked, and he takes his shirt off when he celebrates his goal, which means we’re going to miss him in our last game,” Kaze told SuperSport TV.
“Sometimes, you understand as well the player’s passion, and you know the relief of scoring, but it’s good we have the three points. But in the future, we need to be careful about things like that.”
