Silver Strikers ended the honeymoon for rookies Masters FC, tearing them apart with a 3-0 victory in Lilongwe on Sunday in the
FDH Bank Premiership.
The comprehensive victory took Strikers to the summit, joining Peter Mponda’s Masters and Blue Eagles, all in nine points from four games each.
Andrew Joseph fired Strikers ahead with a clinical finish in the 22nd minute to give Peter Mgangira’s Strikers the lead.
Some 18 minutes later, Festus Duwe added the second goal for the Bankers to carry a healthy 2-0 lead at the break.
Mgangira’s charges extended the lead with defender Macdonald Lameck scoring deep in added time to seal the victory.
Blue Eagles seize chance
Elsewhere, Blue Eagles’ resurgence continued with a 2-0 victory over struggling Dedza Dynamos FC to take their tally to nine points.
Bullets huff and puff
In the Western border district of Mwanza, hosts FCB Nyasa Big Bullets huffed and puffed to a goalless draw with rookies Red Lions.
The People’s Team took their tally to eight points as they wasted a chance to go top of the pile.
