Creck Sporting Club has become the third team in Malawi’s top-flight to suspend a coach following a shaky start to the 2026-2027 season.
In a statement issued on Monday, 18 2026, Creck confirmed the suspension of head coach Eliya Kananji and his deputy Harrison Saidi following a run of unconvincing performances in the FDH Bank Premiership.
“Creck Sporting Club would like to inform the general public that it has suspended head coach Eliya Kananji and assistant coach Harrison Saidi with immediate effect,” reads the statement. “Further updates regarding the suspension will be communicated in due course.”
The Lilongwe-based side sits second from the basement of the 16-member FDH Bank Premiership log table with two points from four games.
Kananji has lost his job less than a year since he joined Creck SC on a two-year contract running until 2027.
He is considered among Malawi’s top coaches, having worked with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets before joining Blue Eagles, then Creck SC last season.
Ekhaya FC was the first side to send their coach, Enos Chatama, on administrative leave two weeks ago. On 13 May, Kamuzu Barracks FC followed suit to suspend head coach Tione Mhone.
