Moroccan club Raja Club Athletic de Casablanca has completed the signing of former Al Ahly SC player and Raja youth academy graduate Badr Benoun.
Raja released a video introducing Benoun to the media, without revealing the length of the 31-year-old’s contract or any other details. Benoun previously made nearly 200 appearances for Raja after debuting, breaking into the Morocco national team setup during his time with the Green Eagles.
Benoun won the award for Best Defender in Morocco’s top flight Botola Pro at the end of the 2017-18 season and also was a key player for Morocco as the Atlas Lions won the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN). Benoun was named in the Team of the Tournament for his excellent performances.
He moved to a bigger stage in 2020 with a transfer to Egyptian giants Al Ahly but struggled with injuries before joining Qatar SC, his most recent club. Benoun’s contract with Qatar SC expired at the end of the 2024-2025 season. He played 15 matches for Qatar SC this season, 12 in the Qatari league and 3 in the cup.
With Al Ahly SC, Benoun made 52 appearances in all official competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist. He was part of Morocco’s run to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where coach Walid Regragui’s team finished fourth in the competition.
