Botswana FNB Premiership side, Jwaneng Galaxy FC, has appointed Irishman Sean Connor as head coach on a two-year contract.
The 57-year-old brings Galaxy FC a wealth of experience gained from serving clubs in Botswana such as Matebele FC. The 57-year-old has also worked in South Africa at Cape Town Spurs as a technical director.
A statement from Galaxy confirms the hiring of the experienced coach. He is expected to improve the fortunes of the team that finished in third place, six points behind champions Gaborone United last season.
“With a wealth of experience coaching across the African continent, including roles as Technical Director of Cape Town Spurs and Head Coach of Matebele FC, Mr. Connor brings a football philosophy that perfectly aligns with our club’s vision for growth and excellence,” the statement reads.
“He will be supported by Mr. Seemo Mpantane as Assistant Coach, as together they lead the charge to elevate Galaxy both domestically and on the international stage. Welcome to the home of champions, coach!”
Conor has filled the void created by Pieter De Jongh’s exit in March 2025. The Dutchman parted ways with the club less than two months after he joined on a two-year contract, replacing South African Morena Ramoreboli.
Seemo Mpatane was previously serving the Botswana giants in a caretaker capacity.
