Premier League club West Ham plan are reportedly targeting a move for Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika as they are planning a significant squad clear out and rebuilding effort following a disappointing season.

Onyedika, who has been a main stable for Club Brugge with 52 matches across all competitions this season, has been made a priority for the Hammers this summer.

The 24-year-old midfielder has been a regular at Club Brugge for three years now. He also made his mark several times in the Champions League, including against English teams such as Aston Villa and Manchester City.

However, the Nigerian still has a contract until mid-2027 at Jan Breydel and is said to be worth 20 million euros, according to Transfermarkt. For West Ham, it is not the first time that they are linked with a player from Brugge. In 2022, the Londoners made an attempt with Hans Vanaken but talks fell through.

Onyedika has been a significant figure for Club Brugge since his arrival in August 2022. Across the 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25 seasons, he has accumulated a total of 92 league appearances for the Belgian club, scoring 4 goals in the process.

He is known for his physicality, intelligence, and work ethic, providing a crucial anchor for the team. His ability to dictate tempo, break up play with timely interceptions, and distribute passes precisely has made him an indispensable player, especially in the 2024-25 season where he played a key role in their Belgian Cup triumph.
