Mamelodi Sundowns defender Divine Lunga has admitted that the only biggest task awaiting them in the return leg final of the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) is to break down the resilient Pyramids FC side at their home soil.

The Brazilians will face the Egyptian outfit in the return leg final at 30 June Stadium in Cairo on Sunday, with the winner being crowned the champions of Africa, replacing Al Ahly of Egypt. The two sides will face off after a 1-1 draw in the first leg final at Loftus Versfeld Stadium a fortnight ago.

“During our analysis, we realised that it’s not going to be an easy game because Pyramids are really aggressive in a lot of different areas,” Lunga confessed as quoted by SABC Sports. “I think we managed to create moments, but we were unable to capatilise on some of these moments.”

His sentiments were shared by Lucas Ribiero, who said: “Every Champions League is difficult, but the Champions League final is something else. So, the team is preparing as normal, and we are ready for Sunday.

“Pyramids did surprise us last week by playing slightly higher, usually when teams play against Sundowns, they defend a lot deeper with a low block.”

During the first leg, Sundowns had scored first through Lucas Ribeiro before Walid El Karti scored in added minutes of the stoppages to hand Pyramids the crucial away goal heading into the return leg.
