Mogadishu City clinch 2024/25 Somalia National League title

Mogadishu City Club are the 2024/25 Somalia National League champions for the ninth time. The capital city side drew their Round 22 game against arch-rivals Heegan, but the title had been secured a few weeks earlier.

Mogadishu City were in top form this season, scoring 62 goals, and their defensive shape was among the best as they conceded just 16 goals — the second fewest in the league after second-placed Heegan. The club waited three years to lift the title, collecting 57 points — six more than Heegan — and they also outperformed reigning champions Dekedda and 2020/21 champions Horseed.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino sent a congratulatory letter to the club following their victory, and they will represent Somalia in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.

The 2024/25 Somali National League was contested by 12 clubs, and larger crowds were seen attending matches. Gasco and Madbacadda were relegated from the top flight.
