FCB Nyasa Big Bullets captain Lloyd Aaron says he is gunning for his first Blantyre derby win against sworn rivals Mighty Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
The meeting between Bullets and Wanderers is billed as the biggest domestic league fixture in Malawi, and it is a first for Aaron with the armband. He said he cannot wait to lead the People’s Team to victory.
“Saturday marks my first Blantyre derby wearing the captain’s armband, and my top priority is to secure my first derby win as the Bullets captain,” he told the club’s media.
“It is crucial for us to win the game. Defeating second-placed Wanderers would open up a valuable gap between us and them, so we need to show our determination and go all out for three points on Saturday.”
Bullets, after winning six league games on the bounce, scoring 18 goals and conceding just once, face the sternest test of their title credentials going into the derby.
The 17-time league champions go into the match with a spring in their step after beating Kamuzu Barracks FC 4-0 the previous weekend.
In the opposite camp, Wanderers seek to bounce back from the one-all draw against holders Silver Strikers last Sunday. The Nomads lie in second place, five points behind Bullets with a game in hand.
