Ghana Premier League: Nations FC coach Kassim Mingle discusses league title

Nations FC head coach Kassim Mingle-Ocansey has revealed how he is helping his players manage the pressure that comes with winning the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.

Nations are steps away from winning their maiden top flight title as they sit top of the log on 60 points, three above second place Gold Stars after 32 league matches.

With two games to end the season, Kassim Mingle talks about winning the league and representing the nation in next season’s CAF Champions League.

“Once you are in the system for long, Africa you have to get experience in coaching. Coaching the more you practice for long the more you gain experience,” Mingle told Radio Gold.

“So we have been in the system for long so we have mature enough to handle any situation.

When asked about the pressure that comes with retaining the top spot with two games to end the season, the former Bechem United trainer admits there is weight in keeping up with the lead but remains confident in winning the league.

“Normally when it happens there is pressure but we are not novice in this game so we are managing it and we are psyching the boys up that, such a situation you have to calm down, motivate yourself you haven’t won the league before and this is your first time and going to Africa too will add to your value.” He continued.

“So we psyche them up and we do what we need to do to clinch the title. We are left with two matches. We take one match after the other and now we are focusing on the Holy Stars game before we come to Heart of Lions game.

“So we are doing what we need to do to win the league, we are working hard for it,” Mingle said.

Nations’ next two games will be against Basake Holy Stars and Heart of Lions. They will first travel to Holy Stars in week 33 on June 1 before hosting Heart of Lions a week later in the last fixture of the season.
