Vipers SC midfielder Waiswa: “Dr. Mulindwa relishes beating SC Villa more than any other win”

Vipers SC midfielder Moses Waiswa has lifted the lid on what matters most to club president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa beating SC Villa.

Speaking on NBS Sport’s PressBox, Waiswa revealed that victories over the record 17-time Uganda Premier League champions bring the most joy to Mulindwa, often accompanied by an extra reward for the players.

“The victory Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa cherishes the most is always against Villa, no doubt,” said Waiswa. “You can even tell by the boosted winning bonus.”

This sentiment was on full display during Vipers’ Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinal win over SC Villa at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, where Waiswa and teammate Milton Karisa were seen jubilantly celebrating the crucial victory.

Dr. Mulindwa, who recently received the league winner’s medal on behalf of the late Abubaker Lawal from FUFA President Moses Magogo, remains a towering figure behind Vipers’ recent dominance.

Reflecting on their seventh league triumph, Waiswa highlighted the core players who were instrumental in Vipers’ successful 2024/25 campaign.

“Allan Okello, Alfred Mudekereza, Hillary Mukundane, Abdul Karim Watambala and Yunus Sentamu were the backbone of our title-winning season,” Waiswa stated.

Okello’s standout performance saw him finish as the league’s top scorer with 19 goals, as the Venoms secured the title with 69 points.

With the league title now in the bag, Vipers have their eyes set on more silverware. They face KCCA FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final on Saturday, May 31, at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba. A win would see the Venoms complete a double for the second time in their history.
