The Nigeria U-20 national team (Flying Eagles) have arrived in Cairo, setting the stage for their third place playoff against tournament hosts Egypt at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (U-20 AFCON).
The team landed in the Egyptian capital around 5:00 p.m. local time on Friday and checked into the Guard Hotel. They’ll be resting there before resuming training sessions on Saturday.
The Flying Eagles are looking to rebound after their narrow 1-0 semifinal defeat to South Africa’s Amajita at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia. Similarly, Egypt also suffered a 1-0 loss, falling to Morocco in the other semifinal. This sets up a battle between two disappointed semifinalists vying for third place.
As seven-time champions of the U-20 AFCON, Nigeria will be aiming to conclude their campaign on a high note when they face Egypt in the third place match scheduled for Sunday.
