Ethiopian Premier League: Sulieman and Eshetu fire Hawassa past Saint George

Hawassa Ketema’s magnificent run in the Ethiopian Premier League continued after a 2-1 win over Saint George. Sidama Coffee also kicked off Week 30 of the top flight with a narrow victory over Wolayta Dicha at the Hawassa University Stadium.

Second-half goals helped Hawassa Ketema stun record Ethiopian champions Saint George 2-1. Esrael Eshetu scored in back-to-back league games as he gave the Lakers the lead with a header. League-leading scorer, Eritrean import Ali Sulieman, doubled the lead with a brilliant goal before Biniyam Fikre pulled one back for the Horsemen with a rebound.

Hawassa Ketema are 10th with 37 points, while a second league defeat in a row has dropped Saint George to eighth with 40 points.

Elsewhere, an early strike from Ghanaian striker Michael Kporvi was enough for Sidama Coffee to take home three points against Wolayta Dicha. Sidama Coffee are now fourth with 43 points. Ethiopian Cup finalists Wolayta Dicha are seventh with 41 points.
