Young Africans (Yanga SC) head coach Miloud Hamdi has praised his players for sticking to the game plan, which helped them secure a commanding 5-0 victory over Tanzania Prisons in the Mainland Premier League at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya on Wednesday.

Goals from Mudathir Yahya, Clatous Chama, Israel Mwendwa, and Ivorian forward Pacome Zouzouma’s brace sealed the Citizens’ emphatic away victory, keeping them on course to retain the title.

“We won the game because we stuck to our key strategy, we stuck to the game plan and played our game without fear. We played according to instructions, and it was why we got the better of them,” Hamdi told Pan-Africa Football after the game. “It is a marathon, all we want is to win our matches, we don’t know about the rest.”

Hamdi was asked how it felt about playing his first game without Stephane Aziz Ki, who left Yanga to sign for Wydad: “I only talk about my players, I don’t talk about players who are not in my squad. You should ask me about Kennedy (Musonda), who was missing, not Aziz Ki.

“My players did well, and that’s what I want. We wanted to win and get maximum points. We now shift focus to the next game, we will fight until the end, like I said before, this is a marathon, and we won’t stop until we get our crown.”

The impressive victory ensured Yanga maintained their lead at the top of the 16-team league table with 76 points. They are followed closely by rivals Simba SC, who won their game 5-0 against KenGold at Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora Region.
