Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara says harsh criticism from supporters helped the team finish the season on a high.
The record FA Cup holders are awaiting a Ghana Football Association decision on the abandoned game between Nations FC and Basake Holy Stars, which will determine their Top Four status, as they are level on 58 points in third place with arch-rivals Kotoko after 34 matches.
“Some people were insulting me, insulting my players, the Board Chairman—everyone,” Ouattara told the media. “Today we are just telling them that, we thank them [because] those criticisms gave us the energy to do well.
“And Hearts of Oak supporters, I congratulate them for criticizing us. I saw someone come to the stadium in all our 34 matches.”
Hearts of Oak have gone this season without silverware after exiting the FA Cup, but the Ivorian tactician will look to improve the lots of the 2000 CAF Champions League winners next season.
