Rayan Aït-Nouri set to complete long rumored Manchester City move

Reports indicate that a big-money transfer to Manchester City is in the final stages for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Algeria national team left back Rayan Aït-Nouri.

Reports from English media as well as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano indicate that the only step remaining is for Manchester City to make a formal announcement. Aït-Nouri has reportedly signed a five-year contract with The Sky Blues and completed a medical. Sky Sports indicated on Saturday that City came to an agreement with Wolves for a £36.3 million ($49.2 million).

It is a well deserved move for a player who has developed into one of the English Premier League’s top left backs. Over five seasons, Aït-Nouri made 135 league appearances for Wolves with 9 goals and 11 assists since joining from French club Angers. The 2024-25 season saw Aït-Nouri collect career-high totals with 4 goals and 7 assists in 37 matches.

For the first time in his career, Aït-Nouri will play UEFA Champions League football. The signing of the 24-year-old is part of a rebuilding process for Manchester City who finished a disappointing third place after winning the previous four Premier League titles. Aït-Nouri will add more attacking capabilities to City’s left flank as they attempt to achieve better results in both the Premier League and Champions League after crashing out in the Round of 32.

Aït-Nouri will also be available for the upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States if his signing is confirmed before the June 10 transfer window deadline allowed for participating clubs. Manchester City will begin play in Group G against Wydad Casablanca on June 18 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before facing Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates and Italian giants Juventus.
