In a surprising and ambitious transfer, Swiss club FC Lugano have confirmed the signing of Algerian attacking midfielder Ahmed Kendouci from Egyptian side Ceramica Cleopatra.
The 26-year-old joins Lugano on a three-year deal, with the financial details of the transfer remaining undisclosed. The move marks Kendouci’s first venture into European football, following spells in Algeria and Egypt.
Kendouci is currently recovering from a serious leg injury — a fracture he suffered in April during a Nile Egyptian League match. Despite the setback, the midfielder is expected to return to action during the first quarter of the upcoming season.
A product of Algerian football, Kendouci rose to prominence at ES Sétif before earning a high-profile move to Al Ahly SC, where he enjoyed considerable success. During his time with the Egyptian giants, he won the Egyptian Premier League, two Egypt Cup titles, the CAF Champions League, and the Egyptian Super Cup.
He later moved to Ceramica Cleopatra, where he added two Egyptian League Cup title to his trophy cabinet before suffering the injury that sidelined him.
On the international stage, Kendouci has made eight appearances for the Algerian national team but has yet to score his first goal for Les Verts.
