Former Medeama SC midfielder Kwasi Donsu has said that, being overlooked for national team call up is the most regrettable moment of his football career.

The 29-year-old recently parted ways with the Mauve and Yellow after a decade’s journey where he notched some respectable domestic records.

His most memorable campaign was in the 2015/16 season where his blistering free kicks held the domestic supporters spellbound. He scored 15 goals with ten of those coming from dead ball situations.

Notwithstanding that swashbuckling performance, he missed out on the chance to make it to the Black Stars squad that had top names like Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari.

Donsu said: “I was hoping to earn a Black Stars call up. A lot of Ghanaians were calling for my inclusion into the Black Stars in the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League season and I was paying for that chance but that did not happen.

“However if you look at the quality of players in the Black Stars in that year like Michael Essien and all and I am also a midfielder.

“Even though I deserved a call up that season, I was not given the chance but that didn’t break me down. I was disappointed but that is part of football and I hope that soon the opportunity will come up some day.” He told Green Gold FM.

Donsu trophy haul with Medeama included one Ghana Premier League title, two FA Cup triumphs, and multiple continental campaigns, including appearances in the group stages of both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

He previously featured for USL Championship side Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the United States and Maltese Premier League side Sirens FC.
