Chiefs confirm Chislett and Silva signings

Kaizer Chiefs wasted no time flexing their muscles in the transfer market this Tuesday, making a definitive statement of intent for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

Just under two hours after confirming the arrival of Nkanyiso Shinga, the Soweto giants unveiled two more additions, bolstering their squad with creative midfield talent and a proven goalscorer.

The Soweto giants have announced the signings of attacking midfielder Ethan Chislett and striker Flavio Silva, completing a formidable trio of new recruits.

These arrivals signal a serious intent from Amakhosi to compete at the highest level, with all three deals now sealed.

Chiefs welcome 26-year-old Ethan Chislett, an attacking midfielder celebrated for his creative prowess. The Durban-born playmaker joins Chiefs after a stint abroad, most recently with England’s Port Vale FC, where his ability to provide key assists and craft scoring opportunities stood out.

Adding firepower to the attack, Amakhosi have also secured the services of Portuguese striker Flavio Silva from Indonesian club Persebaya Surabaya. The 28-year-old is a prolific forward, having netted nine goals in 33 matches last season. Even more impressively, Silva boasts a remarkable record of 23 goals in 29 appearances for Persik Kediri the season prior. He will don the jersey number 77.

These two acquisitions follow Chiefs’ earlier confirmation of Nkanyiso Shinga’s arrival. The talented 25-year-old left-back, from Durban, joins Amakhosi after finalising an agreement with Portuguese club FC Alverca. Shinga, a versatile player capable of operating in midfield and attack, returns to South Africa after seven years in Portugal.

“Kaizer Chiefs will kick off the month of July by introducing three new players, with more signatures expected during this current window to strengthen their playing squad for the upcoming season,” the club statement reads.

“The technical team and management deemed it apt to strengthen the squad in different areas, from attack to defence, to ensure that the team is ready to tackle the challenging PSL season and the CAF Confederation Cup, kicking off in August.”

The newly signed trio will join the rest of the squad for a pre-season training camp in the Netherlands, scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 3.

Chiefs are expected to reveal more signings, such as former Orlando Pirates duo Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane.
