English Football League Championship club Birmingham City has officially confirmed the signing of Nigeria national team defender Bright Osayi-Samuel.

This was announced via the Birmingham City’s Instagram handle on Friday in a statement which captioned his arrival.

Osayi-Samuel, who parted ways with Turkish Süper Lig giants Fenerbahçe, joined Birmingham City on a free transfer. The 27-year-old has penned down a three-year contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2028.

The Nigeria international had been with Fenerbahce since January 2021, making 126 appearances for the Turkish side. The full-back becomes the club’s fifth signing of the summer.

Osayi-Samuel will now link up with his new teammates at their training camp in Portugal, where they are preparing for the upcoming season.

The player is no stranger to English football, having previously featured for Blackpool before securing a move to Championship side QPR in 2017, where he made over 100 appearances at Loftus Road.

Osayi-Samuel has also been capped 22 times for Nigeria and was part of the Super Eagles squad that finished runners-up in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
