Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Zimbabwean midfielder Marshall Munetsi has revealed what has kept him grounded throughout his hugely successful career.

In a wide-ranging interview with the Premier League team’s media, the Warriors player opened up on the importance of family and faith.

Munetsi disclosed that he is religious and prays often, especially when navigating the challenges of a professional football career, and now that he is competing in what is considered the hardest elite football league.

The former PSL star highlighted that remembering where he comes from, has helped him keep his feet on the ground.

“For me, my background is what keeps me humble. I know where I have come from, so nothing else gets me high,” he told Wolves media.

“I have tried to always live my life in the humblest and simplest way because tomorrow is never promised or guaranteed.”

The Warriors star also spoke on the importance of having a strong support system: “Having people around you who also remind you of where you are coming from and where you want to go, is the most important thing in life.”

Upon signing him in the January transfer window, Wolves manager Vitor Pereira said Munetsi had strengthened the Wolves squad. The Zimbabwean international penned a three-and-a-half-year contract with a 12-month option.

Munetsi earned a big reputation in France, where he spent six years and featured in 159 games for Reims. The midfielder broke into the professional ranks when he signed for Orlando Pirates in South Africa in 2017 before moving to the French outfit three years later.
