Despite having no chance to qualify to the knockout stages of the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), DR Congo coach Hervé Happy has vowed to deliver a win against Zambia to finish off their group campaign with honours.
The Congolese outfit will be playing for pride having lost their opening Group A matches against Senegal and Morocco. Despite the two defeats, the Congolese coach maintained they are not done yet with the tournament.
“We’re still in the race to win a match and go out with honours,” insisted coach Hervé Happy as quoted by CAFOnline. “Against Morocco, the spirit and organisation were very good. We showed that the team is capable of producing good play.”
On their tactical approach to the game against Zambia, he said: “We’re able to attack very quickly on the counterattack, thanks to the speed of our forwards.”
A victory for Zambia over DR Congo would secure a place in the quarter-finals, potentially as group winners depending on the result of the Morocco versus Senegal encounter.
The fixture will be played at the El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia on Saturday.
