Zambia in action against Angola: COSAFA media
Zambia’s under-20 national women’s football team coach, Charity Nthala, has explained the game-plan that helped them trounce their Angola counterparts 8-0 on Monday, July 7, 2025.
The rampant displays saw the Young Copper Princess progress to the semifinal of the Cosafa Under-20 Youth Championship underway in Namibia. The tournament is part of the Region 5 Games in Windhoek.
Nthala told COSAFA media that she had instructed her girls to press on Angola from the early stages so as to unsettle them.
“The match was so exciting because the way we planned, was the way they played. We told our girls that we needed to unsettle Angola in the first half to to have a slot in the semi-finals,” said Nthala.
Zangose Zulu opened the floodgates barely after eight minutes as Zambia went to the break with a commanding 6-0 lead.
Saliya Mbali scored a double with Victoria Mwanza, Bwalya Chileshe and Eunice Bwalya netting once. Bwalya and Victoria added a goal each after the break to seal the victory.
