Uganda Premier League side Kitara FC have confirmed the promotion of George Lutalo to the position of head coach on a two-year contract as part of a broader reshuffle of the club’s technical team.
The Hoima-based outfit made the announcement through their official media platforms, stating their renewed focus on stability and long-term success.
“Kitara Football Club is pleased to officially announce the renewal of contracts for our technical team for a further two years, reaffirming our commitment to stability and long-term success,” part of the club statement read.
Lutalo, who previously served as assistant to Wasswa Bbosa, now takes full charge of the team ahead of the 2025/26 season. Interestingly, the club revealed that Bbosa will now serve as Lutalo’s assistant, a reversal of last season’s roles.
“Mr. Lutalo George William, previously the Assistant, has been appointed as the Head Coach, while Mr. Wasswa Bbosa will now assume the role of Assistant Coach,” the statement added.
The adjustments are also aimed at aligning with the FUFA Club Licensing Committee requirements for the upcoming season. Bbosa, who lacks the CAF A License required to serve as head coach, will now focus on enrolling for the course, paving the way for a future return to a top technical role.
Last season, the Lutalo-Bbosa partnership steered Kitara FC to a 7th-place finish in the 16-team Uganda Premier League, amassing 44 points in what was a solid return to the top flight.
With the new changes, Kitara will hope to build on that momentum and challenge higher up the table in the forthcoming campaign.
