Super Falcons coach Justine Madugu has tender an apology to Nigerians due to his ladies being held to a 0-0 draw by Algeria in their final Group B encounter at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) at the Stade Larbi Zouali in Casablanca, Morocco.
The Super Falcons recorded 24 shots in during the clash with only two on target, while they won 13 corners against none by Algeria.
Speaking after the game Madugu promised an improved performance heading into the quarter-finals.
“We apologise to Nigerians for not winning against Algeria because the expectations are for us to always win. We promise to work harder in our coming games.”
Even with the draw super falcons finish their group top with Algeria coming in second place.
Nigeria is here to concede a goal in the tournament as the head into Friday’s tackle with a free-scoring Zambia for a place in the semifinal of the 2024 WAFCON.
