TNM Super League: Wanderers edge Ekhaya FC to go top

Mighty Wanderers FC president Thom Mpinganjira sat in Kamuzu Stadium terraces watching his team clashing with his son William Mpinganjira-owned Ekhaya FC on Sunday.

In the end, it was the business mogul father’s Wanderers that carried the day, edging the rookies 1-0 and going top of the TNM Super League standings for the second time this season.

The FDH Bank founder left the stadium in a happy mood, thanks to winger Gaddie Chirwa’s 54th minute strike that won the points.

The ninth win in 11 games took the Nomads tally to 29 points, two ahead of Bullets who lost 2-1 to Civil Service United on Saturday in Lilongwe.

The fourth league defeat in 12 games left Ekhaya still in fourth place, seven points behind Wanderers.

In other results, holders Silver Strikers dropped points for a second consecutive game after a 0-0 stalemate with Moyale Barracks to remain in third place on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Dedza Dynamos FC and Blue Eagles drew 0-0 while Creck Sporting Club’s revival continued with a 1-0 win over Ekwendeni Hammers.

There was yet another goalless draw between Chitipa United and Karonga United.
