Brentford FC boss: ‘Bryan Mbeumo’s time for Man United is now’

Brentford FC have reacted to the transfer of Cameroonian striker Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United describing his switch as timely.

The Bees’ director of football Phil Giles said there is always the right time for players to move and that time is now for the Indomitable Lions player.

“There is always a right time for a player to move on and, for Bryan, that time is now. He has the opportunity to go to one of the biggest clubs in the world, and we are very happy for him,” he told Brentford media.

“Bryan will always be welcome back at the Gtech. We look forward to seeing him in September and whenever our paths cross in the future.”

It is believed that United manager Ruben Amorim views Mbeumo as a perfect fit into his playing system.

Mbeumo was in red-hot form last Premier League season, scoring 20 league goals. The Cameroonian has penned a five-year contract with United until June 2030, with the option to extend for a further year.

Reacting to the dream move, Mbeumo said: “As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up.

“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”

United’s director of football Jason Wilcox, hailed Mbeumo for his ability to score and create. “Bryan’s belief in our project and determination to join the club confirmed that he was the perfect fit for Manchester United and the culture that we are developing,” Wilcox told United’s media.
