Nabi discusses Kaizer Chiefs’ 2025-26 league title hopes

Kaizer Chiefs’ head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, has shared his thoughts on the club’s potential to compete for the Betway Premiership title in the upcoming 2025/26 season.

The Soweto giants are looking to build on their 2025 Nedbank Cup victory and challenge for more silverware.

Under Nabi’s guidance, Amakhosi ended a decade-long trophy drought last season by securing the Nedbank Cup, beating arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the final. This coming campaign promises to be a busy one for the Glamour Boys, as they are set to compete in four competitions: the Betway Premiership, CAF Confederation Cup, Carling Knockout Cup, and the Nedbank Cup.

The club last lifted the league trophy in the 2014/15 season.

Before Saturday’s Toyota Cup clash against Ghana’s Asante Kotoko, media representatives pressed Nabi about the Chiefs’ aspirations for the Betway Premiership title. Despite Amakhosi’s 3-2 penalty shootout loss to Asante Kotoko after a goalless draw in the Toyota Cup, Nabi articulated a pragmatic, game-by-game strategy for the season ahead.

“How we are approaching this season, not only the league, but the Nedbank Cup and CAF Confederation Cup, we want to take game by game,” Nabi. “We want to do everything we can in every game to win that game. Of course, maybe it’s not going to be possible to win all the games, maybe it will be possible.”

Nabi stressed that the team will “challenge for every game, whatever capabilities we have,” adding, “And then after that, we will see where we stand.” This indicates that while the league title is undoubtedly a goal, the immediate focus is on securing positive results in each match across all competitions.
