Zambia’s Power Dynamos FC stepped up their pre-season preparations in South Africa by playing a friendly against Sekhukhune United on Tuesday morning. The two teams shared the spoils at 1-1.
The MTN Super League champions scored first through Austin Muwowo before Chibuike Ohizu equalised for the Betway Premiership opponents at Benoni Northern Fields in Johannesburg.
Speaking before the match, Dynamos vice-president Ferdinand Menzu highlighted the importance of camping away from Zambia.
“Pre-season sets the tone for a season. We agreed with our sponsor and decided to come here in South Africa at the High Performance Centre [in Pretoria] so that we actually condition our players better for the next season,” Menzu told the club’s media.
Dynamos started their tour of South Africa with a 1-0 loss to another Betway Premiership side Chippa United, last Tuesday at Balfour Park Stadium in Johannesburg.
The Zambians are preparing for their domestic title defence and participation in the 2025-2025 CAF Champions League.
The Kitwe-based club traveled without Willard Mwanza, Prince Mumba, Owen Tembo, Dominic Chanda, and Fredrick Mulambia who are on national team duty.
However, Lombe Mutale, Jericho Mwila, and Samba Bakolele were left behind as they are recovering from injuries.
