Ssenyondo rallies KCCA FC players as pre-season training kicks off at Lugogo

KCCA FC officially began their preparations for the 2025/26 season on Monday with a number of players reporting for pre-season training at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

Among the first significant moments of the day was an inspiring message from newly appointed co-coach Brian Ssenyondo, who addressed the players with a strong reminder of the club’s history and ambition.

“The hard work starts now. We have a legacy to uphold, and with your sacrifice, hard work, and dedication, we will restore KCCA to its rightful place. We will do this together,” said Ssenyondo, as quoted on the club’s official website.

Ssenyondo, who was recently unveiled alongside Jackson Kaddu Magera as the new technical leadership duo, is stepping into the role with high expectations. The pair replaced former interim coach Magera, who held the fort after the departure of Abdallah Mubiru earlier this year.

KCCA FC, 13-time Uganda Premier League champions, have endured a six-year trophy drought since the exit of legendary tactician Mike Hillary Mutebi. In that time, the club has undergone several coaching changes and struggled to replicate its former dominance.

The Lugogo faithful now place their hope in the fresh partnership of Ssenyondo and Magera to bring back the glory days and steer the team toward silverware once more.

The pre-season program is scheduled to run from July 28 until the new league campaign gets underway in late September 2025. Several players are yet to report due to ongoing international duty with Uganda Cranes, particularly for the delayed CHAN tournament in East Africa.

With the foundation now laid, all eyes will be on KCCA FC’s pre-season developments and how the squad responds under the new technical leadership.
