Kenya will have a good CHAN outing if they stick together – Abuya

Kenya national team midfielder Duke Abuya believes Harambee Stars will have a splendid campaign during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) which gets underway in East Africa on August 2.

Harambee Stars, who will be making their debut campaign in the tournament reserved for players, who feature for clubs in their respective local leagues, have been drawn in Group A alongside Morocco, DR Congo, Zambia, and Angola.

According to Abuya, who is ineligible to play in the CHAN because he is contracted to Tanzania Mainland Premier League champions Young Africans, if Kenya plays according to coach Benni McCarthy, they will stand a huge chance to go far in the tournament.

“It’s a team made up of young players, and I believe they have a good chance to do well if they stick to the coach’s instructions,” Abuya told Telecomasia. “Coach Benni has put together a really solid squad that can compete with the best on the continent.”

“Benni is a top coach who knows what he’s doing. The staff around him is also strong. It’s not an easy group, but if the boys stay disciplined and play to plan, I believe they’ll get results. We’ll be there to support them all the way.”

Kenya will commence their campaign against DR Congo, in a fixture which has already been sold out, at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.
