WAFCON: Ghana’s Doris Boaduwaa promises to bounce back after goal drought

Ghana’s senior female team striker, Doris Boaduwaa has reacted to the bronze medal winning feat at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations despite smarting over her lack of goals.

The Former Hasaacas Ladies forward fired blanks at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations where the Black Queens defeated South Africa by 4-2 via penalty shootouts to claim bronze.

Despite Ghana claiming bronze, Boaduwaa felt disappointed by her performances, apologizing to Ghanaian while also promising to quickly bounce back to her best.

“Not my finest tournament, but still a memorable one! I’m grateful we managed to secure the bronze medal in my AWCON debut. I apologize to my fans for not quite living up to expectations I know I’m capable of more, and I promise to bounce back stronger,” she posted on social media.

“To those who supported me through the ups and downs, thank you for your encouragement and prayers. Your words kept me going, and I’m honored to have such a loyal fanbase. I’ll be back, and next time, I’ll make sure to bring the goals!”

Boaduwaa joined Israeli Women Premier League side, Hapoel Jerusalem FC on a two-year contract following her departure from Serbian side Spartak Subotica at the end of the 2023/24 season.

The Black Queens returned to Ghana on Monday, July 28 to a rapturous welcome at the Kotoka International Airport.

The team met President John Mahama at the Jubilee House briefly after their visit to the Parliament House where the Minority in Parliament rewarded them with GHS100, 000 cedis.
