Zambia’s champions Power Dynamos FC (PDFC)’s president, Benny Simukoko, has stressed the team’s CAF Champions League target for the 2025-2026 season.
The MTN Super League holders disclosed the targets during a courtesy call on Zambia’s Deputy High Commissioner to South Africa, Inonge L. Mwenya, on Wednesday.
The Kitwe-based side took advantage of its ongoing camp training in South Africa to visit Mwenya.
Simukoko said Dynamos were determined to push hard in the CAF Champions League and defend their Zambian Premier League title.
He said the 14-day pre-season camp in South Africa was in preparation for the double target.
“Our first target is to defend the championship at home and then push hard in the CAF continental competition,” Simukoko said as quoted by the club’s media. “Being out here gives us the perfect chance to gel as a team, focus on our drills, and work without any distractions.”
He said that the Zambian champions want to start their Super League defence strongly with one eye on the Champions League.
Mwenya, who was accompanied by First Secretary for Trade and Economics, Mwami Mainga, wished the team success in the upcoming campaign.
Dynamos have so far played against Chippa United in a friendly they lost 1-0 last Friday before sharing the spoils with Sekhukhune United on Tuesday.
The Zambians finally registered their first win of the pre-season beating South Africa First Division side, Upington City FC 4-1 on Wednesday. Ronnel Manyanga, Moses Shumah, Austin Muwowo and Ishmael Eddie Ankobo scored for Dynamos.
