Mapeza labels Billiat, Musona-led club Zimbabwe’s finest

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza has described Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat-led Scottland FC as among the best-ever assembled Zimbabwe football clubs.

Mapeza said this ahead of his charges’ showdown with the star-studded Scottland at Mandaza Stadium in Saturday’s Castle Lager Premier League match.

The rookies are likely to parade stars such as new arrival Musona, his younger brother Walter, Billiat, Terrence Dzvukamanja, Khuda Myaba and Ronald Pfumbidzai.

Therefore, the former Warriors coach has told his team to brace for a strong opposition from one of the best assembled teams in Zimbabwe’s top-flight league.

“I can’t complain. The guys are looking okay. Everybody knows the challenges we will face on Saturday. We are facing a very good team; one of the best assembled squads in the country, if you don’t talk about Rhinos FC of 1984,” the coach told the club’s media.

Mapeza added that by signing high-profile players such as Musona and Billiat, the second-placed Scottland are sending a clear message that they want to win the Castle PSL title.

“Their intentions are very clear. If you look at their position on the log table, we don’t need anybody to tell you what they really want, so we know the challenges we will face. What is important is for us to put everything in the game and see what happens at the end of the day on Saturday,” he said.

Fourth-placed Platinum are coming from a 1-0 win over Green Fuel FC the previous Saturday while Tonderai Ndiraya’s men edged Yadah FC in a midweek clash to go within a point of leaders Simba Bhora FC.
