Ademola Lookman disappointed as Atalanta rejects latest Inter Milan bid

Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman is reported to be “disappointed and very angry” after Atalanta rejected a new offer from Inter Milan.

Lookman is looking to leave La Dea this summer, with the Nerazzurri his likely destination. However, Interhave seen several offers turned down by their Serie A rivals.

According to multiple sources, including Nigerian broadcast journalist Onyebuchi “Buchi Laba” Onokala, Inter’s latest offer was a significant one, believed to be an initial fee of €42 million plus €3 million in performance-related add-ons, for a total package of €45million.

This bid followed a previous offer of €40 million, which was also rebuffed by Atalanta. Buchi Laba, post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, which has been corroborated by other European and Nigerian sports outlets, suggests that the club and player had a “gentleman’s agreement” that he would be allowed to leave for a suitable offer.

“I hear Ademola Lookman is disappointed and very angry at Atalanta for refusing Inter Milan latest offer.

There was a gentleman agreement that if a good offer comes in they will accept. That’s why he didn’t leave in January 2025. He wants Inter Milan and has rejected other offers.”

The transfer saga surrounding the rejection has seemingly soured the relationship between the player and the club, with Lookman reportedly pushing hard for a move to the Serie A champions.

Lookman’s desire to join Inter Milan appears to be firm. He has reportedly already agreed to personal terms with the Nerazzurri and has been steadfast in his decision, turning down offers from other interested clubs to prioritize a move to San Siro.

However, Atalanta remains unmoved, holding firm on a valuation of an initial fee of €50 million or more. The club’s stance is said to be influenced by a sell-on clause from his former club, RB Leipzig, which entitles the German side to a percentage of any future profit.
