Nigeria ready to give Senegal very good CHAN game – Ogunmodede

Nigeria national team assistant coach Daniel Ogunmodede is confident they have prepared well to take on defending champions Senegal in their opening fixture of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) at New Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on Tuesday.

According to Ogunmodede, the Super Eagles are ready and prepared to take on Senegal in the Group D clash insisting that their aim at the CHAN in East Africa was to go for a gold medal.

“Of course, Senegal are defending champions, so they’ll be eager to defend their title. But we’re ready to give them a very good fight,” Ogunmodede told ESPN.

“We’ve tasted third, we’ve tasted silver. Now we need to go for gold. We want to go for the gold. A few months ago, during training, Rabiu Ali joked with the players, saying we’ve finished third before in this competition, we’ve finished second before, but this time we must aim for first.

“That really struck me because it shows how seriously the players are taking this.”

Other team’s in Nigeria’s group include Congo, and Sudan.
